The Home is divided into three units to care for those requiring dementia or frail elderly nursing care. Bassett House takes this responsibility of networking and referral very seriously. Each aftercare plan is designed with the input from the client, parent and referral agent. The twelve step fellowships , as well as community based programs and services, are major components of these plans. Groups that the adolescents attend daily cover many different areas that will provide them with a wide variety of skills needed to improve their ability to be successful in their recovery environment. We strive to help connect the youth with their families as well as other support systems in their recovery environment.

We get involved the local schools & they come to us to sing at Christmas. If anyone wishes we can contact the local church or chapel 7 they will come in and hold a service. We are in close contact with the Salvation Army & have attended the services they hold every Friday in the village. New Bassett House doesn’t have a regular church service but the local Revenend Barbara Dale will come in to hold a service if we ask her. We have large bathrooms and toilets where staff, a service user & a wheelchair can move easily. We reviewed the information and data available to us about Bassett House on 8 December 2022. We have a community matron who visits weekly and we have a very good relationship with her. We provide good training for our staff and work to ensure they have the appropriate skill mix to meet the requirements of those who make New Bassett House their home.
The property is set near the town centre which is a 5 minute walk away from Shirebrook, close to the market place where there is a selection of shops. There are gardens all around the home with seating areas for people to sit in. They inspect care services to ensure they are supporting peoples wellbeing; appropriately setup; properly planning out care; are well led; and effectively staffed, each criteria is given a grade out of 6. Bassett House is a purpose built home, which caters for sixty-three residents with dementia and elderly people who require nursing care.
Bassett House will keep referral agencies involved while the consumer is in treatment. The youth's progress is reviewed with the referral sources on a consistent basis; through phone communication with the youth's counselor and case manager. Our staff is trained in the TACT-2 Professional Crisis Intervention Training in order to create a safe and therapeutic environment for our youth. A case review is held with referral agents and other involved in the adolescent treatment and aftercare. Continuing care after completion of the residential program is an important component of discharge planning as well as providing the youth the support they need to be successful. Using input gained from the youth, parents and referral agents, and our staff work to ensure that the aftercare plan is realistic and workable for the youth and the family. New Bassett House is available to clients with mental health problems, have dementia, with physical problems and sensory needs etc.
